During the holidays do you ever just kick back and listen to the snippets of conversation going on around you? Uncle Jack relives his youth by sharing stories you've heard every year at this time. Aunt Sylvia brings her "famous" dessert that everyone raves over, but secretly hates, and shares her recipe for the 20th time. Cousin Bill makes armpit fart noises and belches the alphabet for entertainment. Kids shriek and howl with glee as they chase each other around and around and around the house that is too small for so many guests. Men of all ages pile into the tv room to yell at the television as they watch the football game. Losers yelling curses of annoyance and winners rubbing it in. The women sit around the table and catch up on life over the last year. Did you know mom's sister's husband's brother's wife has the "cancer"; how poor cousin Jim seems to be drinking more since his wife left him; and does anyone know if grandma's china is still in dearly departed aunt so and so's attic?
ahhhh, the sounds of the holidays!!!
This year I watched as my brother, husband, and father spent time "bonding" over the turkey being deep fried outdoors. My nieces and nephew ran around outside until they were pink cheeked and cold. My oldest niece performed "the Indian Chant" on her flute (recorder) and recited a Thanksgiving essay. But, the highlight of my day was when our 86 year old friend, Oliver, shared how he handled his gun during a recent hunting outing and managed to kill 3 deer in one day. His recommendation? "Just shoot em in the head!!" "That works with any animal you're planning on shooting - just aim and shoot em ... in the head."

It sounds like you had a great traditional Thanksgiving day. Oliver sounds like a kick. Many blessings to you and your family as we enter the season.
I was one of the crazy people on Friday morning, but I managed to keep it to Michaels and Target. I got all of my (new) decorations and stocking stuffers DONE.
