{Snow Day}

We have had the most beautiful snow this weekend. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that this has been a record breakingly MILD winter here in Southwest Virginia, or maybe it has to do with the fact that I was looking for an excuse to hibernate in my house and do fun homey kind of things ... but whatever the reason I've thoroughly enjoyed this snowfall. I'm so glad winter finally paid us a visit. Snow makes even the ugliest winter landscape look all sparkly and clean. Beautiful even!

My niece came over Friday evening and stayed with us until this afternoon. We went to Barnes and Noble Friday night and spent the evening browing through the books and chatting with my friend Leigh Ann. Tara found a good book, I found a good cup of coffee and a scone, and afterward we went to the grocery store to pick up the token gallon of milk and pack of toilet paper. You know, to prepare for the blizzard. :)

Saturday dawned white and beautiful. It started snowing early early in the morning and continued snowing throughout the day. The snow was a the type that clung to the branches and piled into deep snow drifts. When we'd let the dogs out they would run around the yard and ploughed the snow with their noses. Baron was completely overwhelmed by his responsibility of attacking so many falling flakes. Tara and I cleaned the house a little bit, baked a little bit, cooked a little bit, and played in my scraproom quite a bit. Tara absolutely loves to be creative. She loves coming over and pulling out the patterned paper, adhesive, and cardstock. This time she made a journal and some ATC's. She's such a smart and talented kid. I love having her around - she's good company. Saturday night Trevor was itching to play outside. It was still snowing and getting pretty cold, so he went and picked up our friends and brought them over to the house for stew, a bonfire and hot cocoa, and a night of riding on the 4wheeler and sledding down our hills. The kids loved it and it was nice to have friends over to hang out on a cozy winter evening.

Now the weekend is over - time to gear up for the work week and all that entails. I hope everyone has had a weekend as wonderful and relaxing as mine. Have a great week and if you're in this region ... drive safely!
