The Magic Swing

Many months ago, when we first found out we were pregnant, our friends Emily and Phil decided it was time to sell all of their baby items. We were lucky enough to receive first dibs on the goods. We picked up a whole truck load of stuff from their house and it remained stacked in our front foyer until we could get Tristen's room finished. As we were loading up the items from their house, their children Sarah and Davis, just watched us with wide eyes. They didn't quite understand what was going on and why we were taking their toys. I felt so guilty taking away all the stuff that once belonged to them and made them happy babies.

One of the items we purchased was a swing. I have been using it over the past few days and find that it is the absolute best thing to help relax Tristen. He loves the gentle movement and the soft music - he falls asleep within minutes. Here is a picture of Tristen enjoying the swing this afternoon ...

He stares off into space, eyes wide open, and as the swing starts to rock his eyes slowly fall closed until he is fast asleep. He can swing for hours if I'd let him! I've read about children who have to sleep in a swing because it is the only place they can sleep. Luckily Tristen can sleep in his bassinet, but it sure is nice to have the magic swing downstairs for him to enjoy.

Thank you Sarah and Davis, for the magic swing!

annabelle was a swing baby. she would only sleep in my bed, right next to me, but she was hard to get to fall asleep. the only thing that worked 100% of the time was to put her in the swing and have dustin play the guitar and sing to her. we would usually have to get her out at bedtime, but man, it was a nice break for me.

julian hated the swing and wanted nothing to do with it. ever.

i am anxious to get home and see how ezra likes it.

i am glad tristen enjoys it, it's nice to have something other than mommy to help the baby sleep. ;)

We're famous! Since neither of our kids enjoyed the swing, I'm so glad Tristen is.
