Time passes so quickly these days it is difficult to sit down and make daily entries in the old blog! It is much more interesting when I have something to write about though, don't you think?
So, on with the updates. Tristen has cut his first tooth - he won't let me get near it with the camera though. Not even my phone camera. Stinker. I discovered his tooth last Saturday evening while having dinner with Trevor's family in NC. It is just poking above the gum line and is SHARP! That may explain his recent grumpiness and inability to sleep through the night. Hmmm ... ya think?! And here I thought my boy had been replaced with some unholy child! :)
He's eating lots of new foods. His favorites, to date, are sweet potatoes, bananas, applesauce, prunes, oatmeal and pears. We have discovered that he's not a big fan of mixed or green veggies. When we've fed them to him, no matter how we've disguised what we're giving him, he gags, cries and throws up. If I try to sneak in the other stuff he takes one bite and then refuses to eat anything else. Very frustrating!! So the kid basically eats sweet potatoes or squash every day with lots of different fruits.
He is sitting up on his own for long periods of time and experienced his first Wal Mart shopping trip sitting up in the seat of the grocery cart a few weeks ago. It is still easier to keep him in the carrier, but that isn't going to last much longer. He's too heavy to lug around like that.
He loves the walker at Jen's house so we bought him one for our house too. Not that he actually walks in the thing. He basically uses it to stand up and move back and forth in the same spot. He feels a little independent in the thing, though, so we like it.
He recently started saying "dadadadadadadada" and sometimes he'll throw a "maaaaaaaa" in there for good measure. That is usually at bedtime when I'm putting on his pj's and lathering him up with lotion.
Tristen is such a good little guy most of the time. He is friendly and very curious. He loves to smile and isn't scared of people who want to hold him. He hasn't really hit the clingy stage yet. Hopefully he'll stay as easy going and sweet as he is now.
He is doing great with Jen and her guys. Tristen is in awe of Grant's tricks (he walks, he talks, he seems to be very grown up these days!) and would dearly love to be doing the same things. He gets frustrated when he wants something and can't get it, or if it doesn't do what he wants it to do - Jennifer says he sounds like Forest Gump (oooh oooh oooh) in the scene where he's sitting out on the front porch when the principal emerges out of their house ... remember that part?! Well, our new nickname for poor Tristen is "Forest".
Since he can't walk or crawl, he kind of does this inchworm roll thing over to whatever it is he wants to get his grubby hands on. He's actually pretty quick at it! I am sure he'll be crawling sooner rather than later. He just needs to get his arms and legs coordinated. My mom says I was walking by 10 months, so maybe we'll have an early walker on our hands. Especially since he wants to be with Grant!
Here are a couple of photos for you to see how much he's growing.

Tristen is such a blessing to us. We look at him every day and are amazed that God saw fit to give us such a perfect and beautiful little boy. We are so thankful he is a part of our lives and we are enjoying every minute with him. Thanks for keeping up with us and I'll try to do better about posting. No promises though.
Love,
Trevor, Heather and Tristen
